Committees
Members can serve the HBA through any of the following committees HBA-DC COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS Communications - Coordinate the publication of the HBA-DC newsletter on a quarterly basis. Develop and maintain HBA-DC informational brochures and the HBA-DC website. Elections - Be responsible for preparing, distributing and counting ballots at the Annual Election Meeting, and informing the membership of the election results. Endorsements - Evaluate the qualifications of candidates for appointments who request the HBA-DC s endorsement. Equal Justice Awards Dinner - Plan the HBA-DC s Annual Award Dinner. Legislative & Policy Issues - Develop and implement HBA-DC initiatives relating to the legislative process. Inform the HBA-DC Board and membership regarding developments in law and policy, and recommend HBA-DC responses, including public education and press campaigns. Membership - Develop and implement HBA-DC membership services and initiatives, including membership surveys and drives. Professional Development - Enhance the professional development for Hispanic attorneys in all segments of the legal profession. The Committee should publicize employment and career opportunities available to the HBA-DC membership. Public Service - Develop and implement HBA-DC s outreach efforts to the D.C. Hispanic community, educate that community about its legal rights and responsibilities, and promote its interests vis-à-vis the federal and municipal governments Social and Special Events - Develop and coordinate social and special events designed to provide HBA-DC members with the opportunity to socialize with members of other bar associations and professional organizations. Student Affairs - Develop and coordinate HBA-DC services for its law student members. Coordinate the mentor/mentee program co-sponsored by the HBA-DC and Arnold & Porter.
