President's Message

Dear @@first_name@@,

Independence Day offers us all the opportunity to take a breather from the hustle and bustle to celebrate the United States.  The freedoms outlined in the Declaration of Independence were truly revolutionary and continue to be an example more than 200 years later.  It took a bloody Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement for the principles enshrined on July 4, 1776 to be more broadly shared by all Americans.  In remembering the sacrifices of generations past, we acknowledge the strife and struggle that has brought us the civil liberties and civil rights that form the bedrock of our republic.  As attorneys, we all affirmed when we joined the bar that we would support the Constitution of the United States and would faithfully discharge the duties of an attorney and counselor at law to the best of our knowledge and abilities.  On this Independence Day, I thank all of you who, through public service, pro bono representation, or civic participation, work to ensure that our nation continues to be a shining city on a hill.

Happy 4th of July.

Atentamente,

Ben Hernandez-Stern

President
Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia
