Attorney General Karl Racine speaks with HBA-DC interns

On July 11, 2017,  Attorney General Karl Racine spoke with law students from the HBA-DC Judicial Council's internship program, the Washington Bar Judicial Council's internship program, and the D.C. Office of Administrative Hearing's internship program. The event was held at the D.C. Office of the Attorney General (OAG). 

General Racine spoke about his career path, what the OAG does, and some of the significant cases the office has won or that it is currently litigating. General Racine took questions from the law students and some of the judges that were in attendance. After General Racine's speech, a panel of OAG attorneys spoke to the interns about their role in the office, offering advice to the interns about how they came to OAG, some of the challenges in their current roles, and what skills, were helpful to them as litigators, among others.Fellow HBA-DC members who are OAG attorneys were also on the panel.

 

HBA-DC member Diana Baquero spoke about her work in the Child Support Services Division's Legal Services Section; Past-President Fernando Rivero spoke about his work in the Public Interest Division's Civil Enforcement Section; and President-Elect Richard V. Rodriguez spoke about his work in the the Office of Consumer protection. The interns also heard from OAG attorneys Kimberly Berry and her work in the Public Safety Division's Juvenile Section and from Argatonia Weatherington and her work in the Public Advocacy Division's Housing and Community Justice Section.
