On November 3, the HBA-DC held a panel discussion on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) as it applies to Latin America. The panel highlighted the anti-corruption risks of doing business in Latin America, identified strategies to mitigate those risks, and discussed ways that HBA-DC members could leverage their skills to build and develop an FCPA practice. Brigida Benitez – Past HBA-DC President and chief of the Office of Institutional Integrity of the Inter-American Development Bank – moderated the all-star panel including: Anthony M. Alexis (Mayer Brown partner and former federal prosecutor); Sam Ramer (Senior Counsel to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security and former A.U.S.A.); and Lou Ramos (Compliance Investigation In-house Counsel at Pfizer, Inc.). Special thanks to our sponsors, First Advantage Litigation Consulting and Mayer Brown.
