Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia Judicial CouncilAnnounces the Launch of Its Inaugural Summer Judicial Internship Program Eight students to participate in summer internship program
(Washington, DC – June 8, 2012)– The Hispanic Bar Association of DC (HBA-DC) is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural summer internship program sponsored and organized by the HBA-DC Judicial Council.
In 2010, the HBA-DC amended its bylaws to form a Judicial Council that serves as a support network for Hispanic members of the judiciary in Washington, DC and offers a forum for consideration of matters of importance to Hispanic members of the judiciary.
This year, the HBA-DC Judicial Council initiated a Summer Judicial Internship Program in which eight law students were selected to serve as interns to federal and local judges in the District of Columbia, to receive bi-weekly training to prepare and assist them in their internships, and to receive opportunities to network with judges in the DC-area. The program began on June 4 and will continue until August 10.

Several judges selected summer interns outside of HBA-DC's Summer Judicial Internship Program, but have agreed to allow their interns to participate in summer program activities, such as the bi-weekly training and networking events. These judges include Judge Jimmie Reyna, Chief Judge Eric Washington, and Judge Laura Cordero.
