In 2011, the HBA-DC established the HBA-DC Advisory Council, a separate arm of the Association. The Advisory Council reviews, recommends and comments on issues to the HBA-DC Board. The Advisory Council is made up of past HBA-DC presidents, which include Poli Mormolejos, James Vigil, Luis Lopez, Maria Holleran Rivera, Linda Estrada and Marianela Peralta. The Advisory Council reflects the recognition that the growth of the Association since its inception and the success of many of its former leaders provide an opportunity to connect these two elements of our professional community to assist the mission of the Association. The Council functions as a body, which will pool and share its seasoned perspective with the Association’s current leadership, to complement the Association’s current governing body on an advisory basis. HBA-DC is grateful to past PresidentA. Baltazar (Balt) Baca for his commitment to the Association. Mr. Baca serves as the Council's first Chairperson. Mr. Baca was a founding member of HBA-DC and served as HBA-DC's first President from 1977-1979. HBA-DC is also grateful and proud to announce that past President Maria Holleran Riverahas agreed to serve as the Council's Recording Secretary. Ms. Holleran Rivera served as HBA-DC President from 1989-1990.

Pursuant to Article XI of the HBA-DC Bylaws, the Advisory Council shall be composed of all HBA-DC past presidents who affirm their membership in the Council. For more information about the Council, please contact Maria Holleran Rivera at Mhrtrav@gmail.com.
