: Thursday, December 5, 2019, 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Location: Morgan Lewis, 1111 Pennsylvania Ave NW Ave NW, Washington, DC
Metro: Federal Triangle (Blue, Orange, Silver Line)

This event will feature speakers Estefania Ospina, Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, and Steve Wall, managing partner at Morgan Lewis.

Ms. Ospina is a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and a minor in Child Development from The Florida State University, and a Master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland at College Park.

She has experience working with clients of all ages conducting individual, family, and couple’s therapy. She will address overcoming the stigma of mental health and the cultural challenges professionals of color face in all sectors.

Mr. Wall has addressed that the disease of addiction is nondiscriminatory — your professional status will not stop the disease. And, in fact, according to a 2016 study sponsored by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and the American Bar Association, lawyers suffer from alcoholism and other mental health issues at rates higher than in other professions.

This year, HBA-DC launched a wellness series to promote the physical and mental well-being of HBA-DC members through mental health, fitness, nutritional and other best practices. The “Wellness for Lawyers Series” events will provide members the opportunity to build balance and healthy habits in recognition that we succeed when we care for ourselves.

Co-Sponsored by Greater Washington Area Chapter, Women Lawyers Division, National Bar Association (GWAC), Asian Pacific American Bar Association of DC (APABA-DC), Women's Bar Association of DC (WBA-DC), and the Filipino American Lawyers Association (FALA-DC).

HBA-DC thanks its Platinum Sponsor - Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP!

The Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia (HBA-DC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional development of its membership, and to supporting the Hispanic community in the Washington D.C. area.
