Join HBA-DC for a special event with author Karla Cornejo Villavicencio to discuss her captivating first book “The Undocumented Americans.” Karla is an immigrant from Brooklyn and Queens. She is a Harvard graduate, Yale PhD student, and writer who has contributed to The New York Times, Vogue, Elle, Glamour, This American Life, and more. In her premier book, Karla writes about several immigrant experiences in essay form, embracing complex narratives and fraught storylines as she paints a picture of what it is like to be undocumented in the U.S. During this event, you will hear from Karla and have an opportunity to ask her questions. Members are encouraged to read her book, “The Undocumented Americans,” (available at bookshop.org) ahead of this event so that you can fully partake in the discussion, but of course doing so is not required to participate.
