News & Press: HBA-DC Event

Summer Associate Reception & Resume Workshop

Thursday, July 20, 2017

On July 13, 2017, the HBA-DC held its annual summer associate resume workshop and reception at Covington & Burling LLP. Law students who were currently clerking, interning, or working as summer associates at law firms, in government, or at a public interest organization met and interacted with their peers and practicing attorneys.

Law students took part in a special resume review workshop where practicing attorneys from the public and private sectors reviewed and critiqued their resumes. After the workshop, Leon Rodriguez, currently a partner at Seyfarth Shaw, spoke about his personal career path that previously led him to serve as the director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and director of the Office of Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, gave practical advice, and responded to questions asked by law students, current practitioners, and board members of the HBA-DC.

We thank our hosts, volunteers, and attendees on helping us have a successful event.
