The Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia Expresses Condolences for Victims and Families of Key Bridge Collapse
(Washington, DC – April 9, 2024) – On March 26th, the Francis Scott Key bridge collapsed after being struck by a cargo ship in Baltimore. Those who are still missing are now sadly presumed to be deceased. In light of this tragedy in Baltimore, the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia (HBA-DC) extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected. We stand in solidarity with the Hispanic community during this difficult time.
To support the families impacted, we encourage contributions to the fund
established by the Baltimore Civic Fund, which aims to provide immediate and direct assistance. “With nearly one in four construction workers in the U.S. being Latino, we at HBA-DC want to stress the importance of safe working conditions and appropriate
oversight of those conditions,” said HBA-DC President Paulina Vera. Together, let us offer our support and thoughts to those who are grieving and those who have lost their lives on the bridge.
