Elizabeth Campbell

The HBA-DC mourns the loss of Elizabeth Campbell, a legal champion and advocate of the Hispanic Community.  Ms. Campbell succumbed to cancer on June 14, 2013. Born in Texas, Ms. Campbell spent formative years in Mexico.  She received her law degree from the City University of New York School of Law where she worked in the Immigrant and Refugee Rights Clinic.  Ms. Campbell began her legal career at Legal Services of New Haven, Connecticut and thereafter worked at The Legal Aid Society of New York City in Elder Law, Family Law and domestic violence.  After her marriage in 1999, Ms. Campbell moved to Silver Spring, Maryland where she became the Director of the Legal Clinic at Bread for the City in Washington, DC.  In 2008, Ms. Campbell became the Managing Attorney at the DC Bar Pro Bono Program where she worked closely with the Hispanic community and members of HBA-DC.  Ms. Campbell started her own immigration and asylum practice in 2011, with a focus on the Hispanic community.  Ms. Campbell was a gifted litigator, and a tireless and compassionate advocate.  She served as a mentor and true friend to many HBA-DC members and new attorneys.  Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this difficult time.
