WELCOME TO THE 2018 ANNUAL EQUAL JUSTICE AWARDS!

 

The Equal Justice Awards Reception is HBA-DC’s annual gala where we recognize individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to achieving equal justice in the District of Columbia. 

 

Net proceeds from the event allow the HBA-DC to continue serving its members through professional development events, mentoring programs, judicial and other endorsements, job referrals, policy advocacy, and supporting the community through legal clinics, education and many other activities.

HBA-DC seeking nominations for 2018 EJA Awards! 

 

The Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia is seeking nominations for the following awards to be recognized at its 2018 Equal Justice Awards Reception.

  • Hugh A. Johnson, Jr. Memorial Award (2 awards – organization and individual): These awards recognize a community organization and an individual with visible ties to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, especially its Hispanic community, that demonstrate unwavering commitment and achievement to public service and dedication to the principles of equality, cultural respect, and social justice.
  • Judge Ricardo M. Urbina Lifetime Achievement AwardThis award recognizes a member of the Washington, D.C. legal profession with 15 or more years of principled service in the legal profession or a related field, and outstanding contributions to the Hispanic community in the areas of equality, fairness, and social justice.
  • Rising Star Award (2 awardees): This award recognizes an active member of the legal profession with 10 years or less experience, principled service in the legal profession, and outstanding contributions to the legal profession. This year, we will be awarding two (2) Rising Star Awards. 

These prestigious awards recognize individuals and organizations that have exemplified outstanding contributions to the Hispanic community in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in the areas of equality, fairness, and social justice and have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to and achievement in public service.  The selected award recipients will be honored during a reception on Friday, November 9, 2018, at the 2018 Equal Justice Awards Reception. DEADLINE: Nominations are due no later than Friday, July 20, 2018 and should be emailed to nominations@hbadc.org.
